My life is different than most high school seniors; I dedicate my time to school work. The course I spend countless hours on is URI Writing. The set due dates, specific prompts, and revision process keeps me actively engaged on each paper I produce. Often times I find myself coming home and immediately reporting to the computer to fix the draft that was handed back that day. The key components of this course are hard work and dedication. I would like to take advantage of the internship program at Coventry High School for three main reasons. My primary goal is to be able to teach effectively. My life is different than most high school seniors; I dedicate my time to school work.
“Meagan has continued to inspire me and her peers with her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to excellence”(Letter of recommendation-Lauren Hopkins).
Over the past four years, I have watched my peers grow into individuals that have different interests. However, I find interest in helping others. I know the assignments for URI Writing thoroughly, and the revision process all too well. Each assignment is a type of paper that will appear in college regardless the course. This internship opportunity will improve my communication, and keep me actively working with my peers.
The hands on activity will always be through small groups. Whether it is peer review, or analyzing a text, writing is always debatable and I am intrigued to view the student’s work. My main focus will be showing learning strategies through the Wikispaces. For my internship I will construct lesson plans and post all of my progress via Wikispaces. I plan to hold class discussions and thought provoking questions allowing the students to respond.
Writing 104 is a class that allows you to learn in a comfortable class dynamic. This course focuses on five main papers and is a non-lecture style class. This allows unlimited opportunities for me to teach about the individual papers assigned. I found this class relatable and kept me wanting to write. My weight loss may not impact others, but my writing has been influenced tremendously. I would love to spend time in a classroom working with Mrs. Zenion and the students to show students everyone can become a writer.
This internship correlates to my future because of the hands on learning techniques I will acquire. I envision my post secondary schooling at a University of medium size that offers an abundance of majors. Today I am led to believe that my future entails a Masters Degree in the field of Secondary Education. I plan to study additional information on health promotion and exercise and movement science. There is a twenty five percent chance of keeping your first year major. I feel that with my heart and high level of interest my majors will remain the same. I strive to not be bound to a desk in an office. I plan to express my creativity through text, speeches, and demonstration where writing is mandatory for all. This internship will strengthen my instructional skills and ability to construct essays for the rest of my college career. Sincerely,
